What to do when Fiber is not available?

We live in a world of broadband. There is no “dissing” fiber; it’s here to stay. It’s bringing faster and more reliable connections than traditional copper and coax cable. With that, even fiber optics has its limitations.

Two things have to happen for a fiber network to be delivered. You can run it aerial (e.g. power lines) or you can bore (dig) it in the ground. This limits the availability of fiber to rural areas. Simply put, it’s too expensive.

There is an alternative; Fiber-Fed Fixed Wireless provided by a WISP (Wireless Internet Service Provider). The benefit of a WISP is that their “Last mile solution” is wireless. This allows rural markets that are either “under-served” or “un-served“ to experience “Big City” internet speeds, such as Atlanta.

I am sure that many of you are familiar with mobile wireless solutions such as smartphones, tablets, and mobile hotspots. These are wireless solutions, but not the same solution provided by a WISP. These mobile broadband solutions are delivered via LTE. If you have a cell phone, then you probably understand that it’s an expensive option to use LTE for both your device(s) and home internet source. Not to mention most plans come with “Data Caps”.

Wysper provides a fiber-fed broadband solution with synchronous speeds, no data caps and no contracts. We are locally owned and operated. We are now providing service to the Central Baldwin area.
